ANIIMO Type Chart & Element Counters

Direct answer

ANIIMO's live-client Counters Lookup shows nine elements — Ice, Water, Lightning, Fire, Grass, Earth, Wind, Dark and Light. Each attacker-versus-defender cell is Super Effective, Not Effective or unmarked with no special relationship shown. Read attacker and defender directions separately; the chart is not always symmetric.

Key information
  • The full chart below was cross-checked against all 81 cells in the live-client Elemental Counters matrix.
  • Use the client terms Super Effective and Not Effective; no damage multiplier or resistance percentage is shown.
  • An unmarked cell means the matrix shows neither special label for that attacker and defender pairing.
  • Spatial Relations is a separate counter system and is not part of the nine-element chart.

Read every row from the attacker’s perspective. “Super Effective Against” names the defending elements that receive the client’s gold upward marker. “Not Effective Against” names the defending elements that receive its gray downward marker. If a matchup appears in neither column, the matrix leaves that cell unmarked; this guide describes that only as no special relationship shown, not as a numerical damage value.

How to Read the Type Chart

Start with the element used by the attacker, find its row, and then read across to the defending element’s column. A gold upward marker is Super Effective. A gray downward marker is Not Effective. A cell without either marker has no special relationship shown in this lookup.

The chart contains no multiplier, percentage or damage formula. It does not support calling a gold cell “2x,” assigning a resistance percentage to a gray cell, or treating Not Effective as immunity. The labels establish relationship categories only.

The individual lookup screen expresses the same information in a different layout. Its left card is labeled Attacker, its right card is labeled Defender, and the selected element sits in the center of each card. The icons placed toward Not Effective and Super Effective must be read relative to the card they appear on.

With Ice selected, the left Attacker panel shows Ice attacks are Super Effective against Water and Lightning and Not Effective against Ice, Fire and Earth. The Defender panel answers the separate question of which incoming elements are effective against Ice.

ANIIMO Examples by Element

These are database examples to help connect each counter icon with an ANIIMO of that element. They are examples, not team recommendations. The cards are selected deterministically from the current canonical Aniidex data: the lowest published ANIIMO number with the matching element and approved local artwork. Names, numbers, artwork and links come from the structured data rather than being copied into this article.

An ANIIMO can carry more than one documented element. An example card proves that the listed element belongs to that canonical profile; it does not say the ANIIMO is the strongest choice for that element or for a particular encounter.

Attacking vs Defending

The client deliberately shows Attacker and Defender as separate panels. Do not assume a familiar type-chart cycle or automatically reverse a relationship. For example, Ice attacks are Super Effective against Water, while Water attacks are Not Effective against Ice. But other pairings do not necessarily form such a simple mirrored rule.

Always phrase the lookup with direction: “Attacking Ice is Super Effective against defending Water,” or “Attacking Water is Not Effective against defending Ice.” The full matrix is the source of truth when the compact individual view feels easy to reverse.

Dark demonstrates why direction matters: Dark attacks are Super Effective against Lightning, Grass and Light, while the Defender panel separately shows which incoming attacks are Super Effective or Not Effective against Dark.

Elemental Counters vs Spatial Relations

ANIIMO’s Counters Lookup contains a separate Spatial Relations tab alongside Elemental Counters. Its diagram names four spatial categories — Ranged, Fly, Tunnel and Pound — and labels relationships as Counters or Hard to Hit.

Spatial Relations should not be folded into the nine-element table. The supplied diagram confirms that the client presents a separate counters and hard-to-hit relationship between these four categories, but it does not publish numerical bonuses or a complete combat calculation. Because the central arrow directions are visually easy to misread without additional help text, this guide preserves the diagram without assigning extra directional formulas beyond its visible labels.

Using Element Counters for Team Building

Before combat, identify the enemy element if the client exposes it, then use the attacker row in the chart. Avoid attacks marked Not Effective where your roster offers a practical alternative, and consider an ANIIMO whose attacking element is shown as Super Effective.

Element is only one decision input. The Team Building guide explains how party roles, skills, durability, progression and combined CP provide additional context. Use the Aniidex to compare canonical profiles, the Held Items guide for equipment evidence, and the Training & Progression guide for separate upgrade layers. This chart is a matchup reference, not a tier list.

Common Element Counter Mistakes

  • Reading a defender relationship as though it described the attacker.
  • Assuming every matchup has a special counter when some cells are unmarked.
  • Calling Not Effective an immunity.
  • Inventing a damage multiplier or resistance percentage.
  • Assuming every relationship is symmetric when attacker and defender directions are separate.
  • Mixing Ranged, Fly, Tunnel or Pound into the nine-element chart.
  • Treating the example ANIIMO cards as rankings or fixed team recommendations.
  • Assuming the verified chart can never change in a later client update.

ANIIMO Element Counters FAQ

What are the ANIIMO elements?

The live Counters Lookup shows Ice, Water, Lightning, Fire, Grass, Earth, Wind, Dark and Light.

What does Super Effective mean in ANIIMO?

It is the client’s label for the gold upward relationship in the Elemental Counters lookup. No numerical multiplier is shown.

What does Not Effective mean?

It is the gray downward relationship shown by the client. This guide does not reinterpret it as immunity or assign a percentage.

Is an elemental matchup always symmetric?

No assumption of symmetry is safe. Read the attacking element’s row against the defending element’s column.

What is Ice strong against?

Ice attacks are Super Effective against Water and Lightning.

What is Water strong against?

Water attacks are Super Effective against Fire and Earth.

What is Fire strong against?

Fire attacks are Super Effective against Ice and Grass.

What is Dark strong against?

Dark attacks are Super Effective against Lightning, Grass and Light.

What is Light strong against?

Light attacks are Super Effective against Wind and Dark.

Are Spatial Relations the same as Elemental Counters?

No. The client gives Spatial Relations its own tab and uses Ranged, Fly, Tunnel and Pound rather than the nine elements.

Tips & warnings

  • Do not treat Not Effective as immunity or assign it an unsupported numerical penalty.
  • Do not assume reversing attacker and defender produces the reverse result.
  • This chart reflects the verified live client on October 4, 2026 and may change with later game updates.
